Bitter gourd curry with Raw Mango

Ingredients for curry:
3-pieces of bitter gourd,
1-big raw mango,
2-medium size onion
1-tbsp red chilli powder,
1\2-tbsp turmeric powder,
1-big piece of jaggery,
Salt to taste.

For the tempering:
2-tbsp oil,
1-tbsp mustard seeds,
1-tbsp cumin seeds,
1-tbsp asafoetida(Hing).
Method:
Step 1: Peel the bitter gourd and onion; cut in to small pieces. Also cut raw mango with skin into medium pieces.



Step 2: Heat the oil in think bottom pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and hing in it.

Step 3: When seeds are tempering than add cut bitter gourd pieces.

Step 4: Cook this bitter gourd pieces until they become crispy.

Step 5: Then add cut onion pieces and cook for just 2 or 3 minutes (Onion transparent not golden brown) on medium flame.

Step 6: Add raw mango pieces on medium flam.

Step 7: When mango pieces become soft then add all remaining masala in it.

Step 8: Mix all masala very well and string constantly for 2-minutes on law flame.

Step 9: Turn off the flame and serve hot with Roti and Curd.



If you don’t like taste of bitter gourd then you enjoy with Black plum or Jamun.:)

  20. whoooooaaa... Never ever in my life until now I thought that Karela can go with Rajapuri keri too!!!! hahah this is a new one....should try it ....

    but ahiya gujarat ni jem mast keri nathi malti :( ... and Jambu b nahi malta.... buuuhuhuhu...

    haha khabar nai i love the bitter side of the taste in all kind of foods.... i love spinach....i like karela .... and i like my tripple shot cappuchino without sugar..... well none of my frnds can have it.....but yeah i like it just that way....they bitter one...lol i guess its juz me....

    comming back to karela....
    i would really like to see 2 specific recepies of karela....
    1. one that is made with bhajiya sort of things....those are made out of chana no lot (kind of muthiya...but hard ones...)...along with gor .... this recepie is never bitter....and so u can see how ppl who dont like the bitter taste can eat it too...
    (haha my mom makes it... i havnt advanced so much that i can make this one myself.... but yeah...lemme know if you dont know abt this one...i will ask her and try to post that recepie...)

    2. karela kaju n sev nu shak..... am sure tame ghana lagan na jaman ma khadhu hase!! i dont know how to make it ....but i juz love the taste of it...

  24. hey loved your recipe for karela with mango. I am going to post the Karela recipe I made, after getting inspired from your previous post of that recipe.
    I have made few modifications but still tastes great.
    I so so much miss jamuns as we do't get jamuns in the US, I miss so many other fruits, like Falsa, Rayan, Lal Goonda, Kothu,Talpadi, Sitaphal etc.

    In my grandfather house one big tree of jamuns but we don’t like too much after that my grandfather cut this tree then we all childrens miss those jamuns very much and now this time we value those jamuns when we bye this jamuns form market. You know seeds of jamuns are very useful in diabetes. Here doctor is advice take one tbsp powder of dry seeds of jamuns everyday for diabetes.:)

    I don’t know the recipe of Bhajiya from bitter gourd with gud(jaggery) so you post on your blog so I can see this recipe and try after that.
